A Rainy Day

A rainy day is characterized by ceaseless rain all day long. It is a common phenomenon in Bangladesh during the rainy season. In a rainy day, the sky remains covered with black clouds and the sun remains concealed behind them. There is continuous downpour of rain. The density of rain may differ from one hour to another. Sometimes it rains heavily; sometimes it drizzles and sometimes gust of wind blows. Very often, rain is accompanied by thunder roars, lightning flashes and strong blows. Due to excessive rainfall, rivers, canals and tanks swell up. Roads and cities go under water in most areas of the cities and towns. People move along the road with umbrellas. Rickshaws are not available let alone taxi. In case they are available they demand high fare. Buses are much too crowed. Office goers and students suffer much on a rainy day. Those who do not use umbrellas or raincoats get drenched. Some students still enjoy a rainy day because classes are rarely held. They spend their time gossiping and merry making. Poor people, especially the day laborers do not find any job. They spend a gloomy day without any income. Even domestic animals, birds and beasts have to bear much trouble on a rainy day. Only the rich people don’t have to go to earn. So they enjoy such a day. People of poetic bent of mind find inspiration on a rainy day. But most people suffer a lot. A rainy is a dismal day without a doubt.
